Our support workers can offer a variety of services tailored to the client’s particular requirements

Preparing meals

Providing respite for other main carers

Providing mental stimulation by reading newspapers, playing cards

Helping with shopping

Assisting with minor administrative matters

Facilitating trips to day centres or just a walk in the park

Taking clients to GP and hospital appointments

But above all, our support workers provide companionship and vital social interaction for those who might otherwise feel isolated or lonely.

The value of a friendly chat over a cup of tea should not be underestimated. Most of our staff become trusted friends to those they support.

However, we are unable to provide personal care.

You have provided support for my mother when she has needed it, over a long period now. It is no easy task to find Jewish helpers who will go into the home of a Jewish lady and provide helping companionship; your organisation has done exactly that.- JB
Mrs L. is excellent, such a big help and a pleasure to have around. Toda!- Mrs L
I have to thank you for your help with sending me your angel Michelle who has been marvellous with mum from day one. Michelle was very attentive to Mum’s needs. Thank you, Nelly, for being there for me and mum.- Alex
Thank you and Friends of the Sick for the wonderful service you have provided. My mother was so pleased when you sent Mrs D., because Mum didn’t want a “carer” and Mrs D. was more like a friend. Mum enjoyed her company because they had similar values and interests and could laugh together. It made such a difference to Mum’s wellbeing.-
